The IT Management Specialisation within the Master of Information Technology is designed for students who want to move beyond technical implementation and into strategic, leadership, and management roles in technology-driven organisations.

This specialisation develops the advanced knowledge and practical capabilities required to lead digital initiatives, manage technology-enabled business change, and drive innovation at an organisational level. Students explore how technology strategy, digital products, business models, and transformational leadership intersect to shape the future of organisations.

Entry Requirements

All applicants

A bachelor’s degree or higher in a related IT discipline

Applicants with qualifications in a related IT discipline will need to complete an application for advanced standing to gain credit for prior learning.

A bachelor’s degree or higher in any discipline AND

either

- two years relevant work experience with significant exposure to the application of technology OR
- evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent.

International Applicants

In addition, International Students must meet the following:

In addition to the entry requirements listed above, international students whose first language is not English must demonstrate that their English proficiency meets the specified level of English proficiency for the MIT course by providing proof of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall test result (or equivalent alternative test result as defined by regulation). The IELTS requirement for the MIT is 6.5 or higher overall, with no band lower than 6.

Mode of Delivery

We focus on learning and teaching delivery method where students will be required to engage in the subject content prior to classes and tutorials so that the face-to-face engagement can be used to develop higher-order skills such as interpersonal skills and teamwork.

On campus
A mix of online tools through the Learning Management System to subject-specific learning resources and information including submitting assessments
Out-of-class activities to engage students throughout their course.

Methods of Study and Assessment

The mode of delivery is face-to-face, supported by SHEA’s Learning Management System for access to subject-specific learning resources and information, including submitting assessments. Moodle will be the LMS for delivering the learning strategy to engage interactively with students using the digital tools anytime and anywhere to augment their classroom experience.
The assessment types in the course are predominantly authentic assessments with some traditional assessments for knowledge-based subjects in the first year:

Problem-based tasks (either individually or team)
Case studies
Presentations
Report
Peer and self-assessment (moderated)
Quizzes (used well can keep students engaged, formative assessment because quizzes are easy to administer and provide feedback)
Project (individual and in teams)
